Using Comics to Support Empathy Development

Topic:
Using comics to help support learning of Second Step concepts.

Driving Question:
How does our behavior affect other peoples' feelings and actions?

Learning:
There was both the anticipated and unanticipated learning. The students carried on great discussion and showed understanding and empathy through their cartoons. They actually showed quite a bit of creativity and technical awareness while working on Pixton.

Work Samples:
I have the ability to embed the comics to my Wiki:

.

Assessment:

Another great thing about Pixton is the data bank of saved comics and possible projects.

The students love the program and are all actively engaged whenever they are on Pixton
Pixton has a feedback (comments) portion to its program. I also met individually with the students to offer suggestions and guidance while working on Pixton.

I found Pixton.com which is a super comic creation website. The students were able to use the notebooks to create their comics. Pixton has the ability to print their comics and to share the entire class' projects in a classroom gallery.
